Sungyeol did not get the end he wanted but he has not given up. Neither has his leader SungKyu. They may be at cross purposes but who knows, that might be what they need to accept what is. ForewordI finished Makoli, yet it felt incomplete. I think because I favour SungYeol a lot  and wanted a different ending for him.
