One Hundred
Kyungsoo sees fireflies.Kai creates them. They met one afternoon in between the spaces of clichés and paradoxes. The show was about to start and the lights were put off. Total darkness surrounded him and he can only see himself. Then suddenly fireflies began lighting up right before his eyes. Small warm colours carelessly floating in empty space felt warm as it touches his skin; when the fireflies began to transform into shooting stars. He watched with amused eyes as the man commanded the lights with his every move. The music turned into beats faster than the heart and painful in every sound. He set out a graceful curve and careless releases of dancing stars in every second and every beat. He saw passion. He saw music. The breathtaking scene flashing before his eyes almost made his soul depart his body. The almost inaudible sound of slight bone cracking and joints twisting created an irresistible pleasure that complimented the running music. The man had contrasted well with the vibe mastering each bend and break. As the show had neared its end, the man left him a scar that engraved deep into his mind. The scar of a man’s broken smile. The curtains had fallen and the show was finished. It only took him a matter of seconds before the shadows of the universe had finally left and repainted him into a burning crimson.Kyungsoo was on free fall.Because he fell in love with the man wearing the mask of perfection. He was falling into the deep dark abyss of the soulless performance that he just witnessed. Invisible hands that dragged him to the null pit were invincible. But he never resist. He was on free fall.Everything turned black. But the image of the man commanding the fireflies continued to haunt his senses. Whips and torturous flashbacks had mixed with the wind cutting deep the skin penetrating through the cavities of the soul. This is the pain that is intolerable yet leaves an undeniable pleasure. This is the pain of falling in love.A tiny but screeching ring had waked up his senses. The next thing he remembers is that his heart beat faster than before, a hint of red had developed in his cheeks and it felt warm and good. And he hears the name everyone shouted to glorify the performer. “Kai”.However, this is not a sugar-coated fairytale wherein one falls in love and lives happily ever after. They are separated by the invisible walls built up by sarcasm and irony--- the towering walls of reality. They co-exist in different worlds. Worlds set apart in parallel universes looping through time and space with only red strings tied in million knots with an unknown end. Kyungsoo sees.Kai doesn’t. Foreword
