I timidly woke to the sound of crying. The dark room shared with four of six of my sisters was lightened by the moonlight. “Who’s that?” I asked surprised by the space beside me. It was filled not just by me, but Chenwu. She’d somehow removed herself from her own bed to sleep beside me. “C-Chenwu??” The small framed woman turned to face me, her eyes swollen. I could only imagine how long she’d been crying. “Sister, I’m sorry I woke you.” She apologized.
